The beginnings: Courage and entrepreneurial spirit at Lake Chiemsee
The success story of Yachten Meltl began in 1969 when Josef Meltl took over his mother’s rowing boat rental business in Rimsting on Lake Chiemsee. With foresight and a pioneering spirit, he soon added small cabin sailing boats to the range. This was the first step that made Yachten Meltl one of the first yacht charter companies in Europe. But that was not all: customers soon recognized the desire to own their own yachts and Josef Yachten Meltl began selling boats from well-known manufacturers. Another milestone was the investment in Bavaria Yachtbau GmbH in 1984, which made Bavaria one of the world’s largest yacht suppliers.

From humble beginnings, the company has now become one of the largest yacht centers in Europe. Yachten Meltl has firmly established itself in the industry and offers an impressive selection of sailing and motor yachts in its modern showroom in Bernau am Chiemsee. As an official dealer for Bavaria and Dufour yachts, Yachten Meltl supplies private customers, prospective buyers and charter companies with the expansion of their fleets throughout Croatia.
