A week on the Bavaria Cruiser 34 Style Rocky III

A TRIP REPORT FROM GÜNTER

Travel period: June 22 to 28, 2024
Area: Croatian Adriatic
Ship: Rocky III (Bavaria 34 Style)
Crew: Günter (skipper), Marion (co-skipper)

Our sailing trip for two on the Rocky III was a wonderful and relaxing experience. We enjoyed the peace and quiet as a couple so much that we almost forgot to take photos. But we will keep the memories in our minds. The route took us through some of the most beautiful bays and towns on the Croatian Adriatic, and the culinary highlights at Konoba Smokvica, Mareta and Mare made the trip unforgettable. Even the encounter with a jellyfish could not diminish our joy. It was a week full of peace, enjoyment and shared experiences that we will remember for a long time to come.

Day 1

Jezera – Smokvica (12 nm)

Our sailing trip started in the idyllic harbor of Jezera on the island of Murter. After checking in on our Rocky III, a Bavaria 34 Style, we set sail for Smokvica. The wind was mild, ideal for a relaxed first leg.

When we arrived in the bay of Smokvica, we docked directly at Konoba Smokvica. We spent the evening at Konoba Smokvica, where we enjoyed an excellent dinner. The appetizer platter alone is worth a visit. The local cuisine, especially the fresh seafood, was a perfect start to our trip.

Day 2

Smokvica – Murter (16 nm)

The next morning we sailed on to Murter to the Hramina marina. The crossing was calm and pleasant. We anchored off Murter for a swim and a dip.
I did my obligatory run around Murter before dinner. We then explored the charming little town and settled down in the Mareta restaurant, where we enjoyed fresh swordfish – a real highlight for the taste buds. We rounded off the evening with a fresh ice cream and a walk along the waterfront promenade before heading back to our boat.

Day 3

Murter – Landin (13 nm)

After a relaxed morning, we let the wind push us into the bay of Landin. We found a quiet and secluded buoy in the bay of Landin. Here we spent the day swimming, sunbathing and reading. The silence and the natural beauty of the surroundings ensured complete relaxation.

Day 4

Landin – Katina (18 nm)

In the morning we sailed to Katina. The crossing was calm and we enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere on the water. When we arrived in Katina, we stopped at the Mare restaurant, where we were served the best branzino of our lives. The restaurant exceeded all expectations and made this day a culinary highlight of our trip. In the sheltered bay, we hardly noticed anything of the predicted windy night.

Day 5

Katina – Smokvica (14 nm)

The next morning began with a small incident – during my morning swim, I came into contact with a jellyfish. But even this moment couldn’t dampen the good mood.

We sailed on to Smokvica, where we moored the Rocky III to a buoy again and immediately jumped back into the water. The rest of the day was characterized by relaxation and the beauty of nature. We indulged ourselves again at the Piccolo.

Day 6

Smokvica – Jezera (10 nm)

On the last day of our trip, we set sail back to Jezera. The return trip was calm and gave us time to reflect on the past few days. Before reaching Jezera, we stopped for a swim and an enjoyable lunch. Once we arrived in Jezera, we returned our boat and enjoyed one last evening in a small restaurant in the harbor, where we ended the trip with a glass of wine and many wonderful memories.
