14-day sailing trip with the Dufour41 – Super Bee from Jezera/Murter to Dubrovnik and back!
A CRUISE REPORT FROM YACHT OWNER THOMAS
Hello! My name is Thomas and I am the proud owner of the Super Bee, a new Dufour 41, which is moored in the ACI Marina Jezera on the island of Murter. From there we went on a two-week dream trip to Dubrovnik and back.
In the first week we were 2 families and in the second week only 1 family. In this blog post, I will give you my tips and tricks as a skipper – which bays, which conobas, which marinas are perfect for a two-week trip. I will also explain the advantages of the Dufour 41 and the possibilities of chartering this boat through Yachtcharter Pitter.
Enjoy reading and good luck on your own journey. Let’s get started with the route!
Texts, videos and photos provided by Thomas – many thanks!
Day 1
ACI Marina Jezera to city harbor Primošten
On the very first day, Saturday, we sailed from ACI Marina Jezera to the city harbor of Primošten.
Tip: Reserve a place with the harbor captain two days in advance, as the city harbor with its beautiful city walls can only accommodate about 10 boats.
We paid 61 euros for a 41-foot yacht in the high season.
Alternatively, there are also buoys or the option of anchoring.
Buoys also cost money.
Thomas’ recommendations
- In Primošten there is a really cool gin bar on the sea side with a fantastic view
- Gelateria Aroma offers sensational ice cream – an absolute must
- There is a beautiful beach for swimming right in Primošten
Day 2
City harbor Primošten to Trogir SCT Marina
On the second day, we continued to the SCT Marina in Trogir, one of the three marinas in the city. It is the cheapest, newest and offers plenty of space for mooring. You can book it in advance via mysea or, like me, reserve a week in advance by email. There is usually space even without a booking. Disadvantage: There is often a bit of swell in the evening because of the many boats.
Thomas’ recommendations
- The old town of Trogir is an absolute highlight with super nice restaurants. The children love walking through the old town and eating tree cakes or ice cream! There are cheaper restaurants at the back of the old town than on the promenade.
Day 3
Trogir SCT Marina to ACI Marina Palmižana
On the third day, we went to ACI Marina Palmižana on the island of Hvar. The weather changed and we had a strong bora, so the sheltered marina was the perfect choice. A walk through the botanical garden to the other side of the bay is always nice. Fortunately, there were no party boats this year. We ate on the boat, but I normally love Totos or Meneghello in the middle of the island.
Thomas’ recommendations
- Unfortunately, the showers and toilets in the marina are often overcrowded, but that’s no problem for us, we can shower on the SuperBee!
- This year there were a lot of jellyfish right in the marina, so you couldn’t swim there.
Day 4
ACI Marina Palmižana to the island of Šćedro
From ACI Marina Palmižana, we headed for the island of Šćedro and Konoba Amfora. Despite strong gusts and a thunderstorm that chased us, we reached the bay safely. The buoys are very well organized and cost 45EUR extra (front and stern buoys).
Thomas’ recommendations
- The Amfora restaurant is a small, new gem run by young restaurateurs. Sensational food, fresh fish, great salads. Contact: Konoba Amfora: +385 91 55 11 270
Day 5
Island Šćedro to Korčula ACI Marina
Korčula, the birthplace of Marco Polo, is always a highlight. The ACI marina is expensive and cramped, but the new sanitary facilities and proximity to the old town make up for it. It’s best to book a week in advance via the website to make sure you get a place.
Thomas’ recommendations
- There are shops and great restaurants in the old town right next to the marina. We ate at the Pizzaria Pape right on the promenade – great value for money and a beautiful view
- There is a petrol station south of the town
Day 6
Korčula ACI Marina to Mljet Pomena
On Mljet we moored with our Super Bee in Pomena at the Konoba Riba. A great restaurant with murings and very nice operators. There is electricity and toilets here and mooring is free. A walk to the small and large lake in the national park is highly recommended, but you have to pay a national park fee. However, the boat trip to the island with the old monastery is included. Be sure to bring your swimming gear. The small lake had a water temperature of 30 degrees.
Thomas’ recommendations
- Konoba Riba: +385 98 97 01 114
Day 7
Mljet Pomena to the island of Šipan, Konoba Kod Marka
The famous Konoba Kod Marka on Šipan is run by a top chef. Make sure you book in advance, there are 3 buoys! Although our waiter was a bit strange and couldn’t deliver all the dishes, the food was sensational. Elon Musk, Barack Obama and many other stars are regulars there.
Thomas’ recommendations
- There are also cheaper konobas in the city harbor and you can moor directly with a mooring ring!
- Konoba Kod Marka: +385 98 6086 87
Day 8
Island Šipan to Dubrovnik Marina Frapa
Dubrovnik was the destination for the first week. Marina Frapa is the newest in Dubrovnik and has its own pool with a cool pool bar. Disadvantage: A lot of swell from the cruise port. Book a berth by e-mail in advance. From there, a visit to the old town is a must. The history, the war, the courage of the people and the renovation of the city are unique
Thomas’ recommendations
- Tip: Call Taxi Dubrovnik. They will take you by cab to all the important viewpoints in the city for around EUR 100. This saves time, money and nerves. The cable car to the top of the mountain alone (a visit is a must, preferably in the morning) costs EUR 25 per person.
Day 9
Dubrovnik Marina Frapa to Mljet, Polače, Restaurant Stella Maris
On day 9, we set off again from Dubrovnik. Our first stop was the island of Mljet, this time in Polače. Polače is known for its beautiful bays. If you anchor, you have to pay the national park fee. If you moor at a restaurant, this fee is waived. We went to the Stella Maris restaurant, which is at the very end of the bay, right next to the ferry dock. The food there was sensational and the children loved it too. The ferry leaves at 9 am, but that doesn’t bother us. In the evening it leaves at 5 pm.
Thomas’ recommendations
- Mooring places: On the left side there are moorings that are free (not all of them are recommended – watch out, they are already waiting when you come in), better drive to the very back, e.g. to Konoba Antika.
- Konoba Stella Maris: +385 98 61 92 87
Day 10
Mljet, Polače, Restaurant Stella Maris to the island of Hvar, Mrtovnik Bay, Konoba Gambo
The next day we went to the island of Hvar, more precisely to Mrtovnik Bay and Konoba Gambo. Konoba Gambo is a little insider tip on the south-east side of the island. There is no menu; you pay a flat rate of 55 euros for adults and 25 euros for children. The food is simple but excellent – from spaghetti with scampi to grilled chicken, fish and local sweets. The buoys are a bit cramped, so a shore party is a good idea. Water quality is awesome.
Thomas’ recommendations
- Konoba Gambo: +38 59 77 17 23 81
Day 11
Island of Hvar, Mrtovnik bay to Vrboska town harbor
We stayed on the island of Hvar and went to Vrboska. The ACI marina is good, but we preferred the town harbor. Here you can book via WhatsApp and the friendly harbor captain is happy to help. There are no showers or toilets, but electricity, water and waste disposal are available – but all for an extra fee. The harbor marinero goes home at 7-8 pm, so you can also take care of your supplies early in the morning to save money 🙂
Thomas’ recommendations
- You can reserve a berth here: +385 91 40 56 698
- Wonderful restaurants and a long fjord that leads to the town. In front of the entrance there is a great bay with a water park for children.
Day 12
Vrboska city harbor to Marina Lav
Our penultimate destination was the Marina Lav, which belongs to the Le Meridien Hotel. A beautiful complex with a pool, but very hot in summer because of the concrete surfaces. Unfortunately, using the pool costs an extra 50 euros per person, but it’s still worth it because you can just cheat your way in 🙂 The marina costs 130 euros and offers a cheap Uber service to the old town of Split.
Thomas’ recommendations
- Please note: The water depth is shallow – make sure you specify the depth of 2.20 meters when booking so that you get a suitable berth. Simply book by e-mail in advance.
Day 13
Marina Lav to Uvala Vela Stupica
Our last day at sea took us to Uvala Vela Stupica bay on the island of Žirje.
The bay is very popular and often crowded, especially on Thursdays.
There are 40 buoys in the main bay and 20 more in a side arm.
Konoba Stupica offers simple but excellent food, including fresh fish and great potato salad.
We were actually planning to stay at the buoy.
We had already booked it for EUR 35, but then the kids had a cool idea!
We decided to leave at 10 p.m. and take a night trip back to ACI Marina Jezera.
It was an unforgettable experience under a clear starry sky – highly recommended!
We arrived at ACI Marina Jezera at 1 am.
No wind, just the gentle hum of the engine.
Day 14
ACI Marina Jezera
The next day, a Friday, we got the boat ready, put everything away and went for a nice dinner in Jezera in the evening. The beach next to the marina is an absolute highlight – it is rebuilt every year and looks like the Caribbean. A perfect end to our trip.
Thomas’ recommendations
- Tip: Arrive early and spend the day at the dream beach in Jezera. Certainly one of the most beautiful beaches in Croatia.
Advantages of the Super Bee
The Super Bee is not just a yacht, but a home on the water. As the owner, I sail the boat myself every 6 weeks and, together with the Pitter Yachting team, I make sure that everything is in perfect condition.
With luxurious amenities such as exclusive upholstered furniture, a fully equipped kitchen incl. Nespresso machine, toaster, microwave, three air conditioning units, power generator and its own storage room, the Dofour41 – Super Bee offers maximum comfort. Thanks to the electric winch, the self-tacking jib and the digital anchor chain display, it is also easy to operate and ideal for relaxed sailing trips. The Super Bee is the perfect boat for families and couples who don’t want to do without any luxury on a sailing boat.
The Super Bee also has its own boat app. All your open questions about the boat, functions, equipment, bays and conobas are explained directly on your cell phone. This is unique in the charter sector.
What distinguishes the Dufour 41 – Super Bee – from other charter yachts?
Thomas, owner of the “Super Bee”
Attention to detail!
The Dufour41 Super Bee has the construction number 2 – it was built for a trade fair and therefore has all the equipment available.
As the owner, I spent two weeks optimizing and rebuilding every single point on the boat that was not optimal.
Everything is state of the art and usable for charter guests.
In addition, the Pitter Yachtcharter team at the base in Jezera ensures that the yacht is optimally maintained.
The aim is to ensure that every charter guest receives a boat as if they were the owner of it.
The many 5***** reviews of the Super Bee prove that so far all charter guests have been satisfied.
