10 days on the Bavaria Cruiser 46 Style Cataleya
A TRIP REPORT BY GABI ZACHERL
We chose the Cataleya because it offers a unique energy concept and almost full equipment. The sailing yacht has air conditioning, a 3,000W inverter, a dishwasher and two large refrigerators with a large freezer compartment. The entire system is powered by additional lithium-ion batteries and a large 720W PV system.
With this energy setup, it is possible to permanently operate 230V devices without a noisy generator. Of course, it is not possible to run all appliances at full load all the time, but even the ECO mode of the air conditioning system can be used in an energy-neutral way during engine operation or when the sun is shining brightly. This prevents extreme overheating of the interior and allows you to sleep much better in the evening.
We were also spared the hassle of washing up as we had a dishwasher on board. This is very unusual for a ship of this size! Of course, the Nespresso machine on board, a hair straightener and a hair dryer can also be operated with the inverter.
Another highlight of this sailing yacht is the anchor. The Ultra Marine anchor holds like no other. The boat holds its position even when the wind changes direction and on different surfaces. Provided you have the right length of chain. But our experience with other anchors has been consistently mediocre.
Knowing how and with a little technical understanding of energy consumption, we didn’t have a single flat battery the entire time! Great concept & all this without the noise and smell of a generator.

Saturday – Sunday
Biograd near Zadar
We spent the first night in Biograd. The boat was surprisingly well prepared and we were able to take over at around 1 pm. In the evening, we had reserved a table at Konoba Barba. The cevapcici, calamari fritti and octopus salad are highly recommended. Of course, the menu offers much more!
Sunday – Monday
Zlarin near Šibenik
On the eastern side of the island of Zlarin there are countless bays with very good anchoring possibilities. In this case, we anchored with shore lines.
Monday – Tuesday
Rogoznica
In Rogoznica, we moored directly at the town pier and went to Konoba FONTANA for the first time in the evening.
The daughter of the original owner took over the restaurant herself and in no time at all it was top rated.
Best quality at very good prices!

Tuesday – Wednesday
Drvenik
This bay “Uvala Mala Luka” should not be missed on a cruise in Dalmatia. It offers good anchoring opportunities and great snorkeling spots. Beware of bora winds or storms. We always position ourselves so that we can go out at any time. But the weather usually remains stable.
Wednesday – Thursday
Bobovišće, island of Brac
The bay or the small village of Bobovišća is also always worth a visit.
There are buoys there, but you can also moor directly in front of Konoba Vala.
In this case, you are only separated from the restaurant by the pazarella.
Water and electricity are included in the mooring, which is operated by the city of Split.
By the way: you shouldn’t miss the sunset!
It looks as if the sun sets right in the middle of the driveway!
There is also a secluded little village with a castle tower and great views.
Just 50 meters away there is a small store for everyday necessities.
Thursday – Friday
Šćedro, anchor bay south side
Uvala Porteruša – also a must-see in the Split region! The water is crystal clear and the seabed is covered with fine sand. From here you can also walk to the north side of the island, where there are a few restaurants.
Friday – Saturday
Korčula city, ACI Marina
Another highlight in the Split region is always the town of Korčula. A relatively narrow ACI marina, but well protected and right in the town. There are countless cafés and restaurants all around. We usually go to Pizzeria Tedeschi – highly recommended!
Saturday – Sunday
Šćedro, north side buoy
Back to the north – this time the north side of the island of Šćedro. There are many buoys and 4-5 restaurants here. You can snorkel and swim along the shore. In the evening, it gets very quiet in the large bay, as some of the branches offer plenty of shelter.
Sunday – Monday
Primošten
The town of Primošten is a great place with nightlife and many restaurants. If you love the hustle and bustle, you can make a reservation at the town pier. Alternatively, there are buoys, or you can anchor a little further away and take a dinghy into town. Primosten has stores and everything your heart desires. The old town is also really worth seeing! There is also a water park on the beach for younger sailors.
Monday – Tuesday
Žirije, Tratinska Bay
There are buoys in this bay!
Be careful – some of them are a bit close together, so you should choose the right one depending on the length of your boat.
If you want to eat out in the evening, the best restaurant in our opinion is about 10 min.
away.
Restaurant Julie is a short walk away.
It tastes really good there & the prices are much cheaper than in the restaurant on the shore.
We highly recommend a walk to the summit to the west of the bay.
There are old bunkers up there, which are accessible.
The view of the open sea is also magnificent.
The footpath to the summit starts at the lowest point of the bay and can be easily reached by dinghy.
Tuesday – Wednesday
Smokvica Island in the Kornati Islands
One of our favorite restaurants is the “Piccolo” in the Kornati Islands on the island of Smokvica. You can make a reservation there and lie directly on your own jetty. Please note – there is no electricity and no water. But the cuisine is a unique experience! The ancient restaurant offers a flair that few other konobas can match. If you walk past the restaurant and up the hill, you can also watch the magnificent sunset over the Kornati islands! Absolutely recommendable!
