Status of compatibility with the requirements
This website is partially compliant with conformance level AA of the “Web Content Accessibility Guidelines – WCAG 2.1” or with the applicable European Standard EN 301 549 V3.2.1 (2021-03) according to Directive (EU) 2016/2102 of the European Parliament and of the Council due to the following incompatibilities and exceptions.
Non-accessible content
The content listed below is not barrier-free for the following reasons:
a. Incompatibility with the accessibility regulations
- Keyboard navigation & focus visibility: Individual elements and navigation areas cannot be fully operated using the keyboard or do not have a clearly visible focus display.
- ALT texts: Some images do not contain alternative texts or do not contain meaningful alternative texts.
- HTML & semantics: Certain structuring HTML elements (e.g. landmark elements) are not consistently present, which makes orientation difficult for users of assistive technologies.
- Heading structure: Some headings are not correctly labeled. (H1-H2-H3)
- Compatibility with screen readers: Due to partially missing or incorrect aria-label and “skip-to-content” links, the use of screen readers is not optimal.
- Forms & error messages: Forms & error messages are currently not correctly captured by screen readers (aria-describedby).
b. Disproportionate burden
- PDF documents: Older PDF documents that were created before the current legal requirements came into force are not accessible.
We will endeavor to make documents accessible in the future. We are happy to offer accessible alternatives for existing content on request.
c. The contents do not fall within the scope of the applicable legal provisions
- Archived content: Certain multimedia content and PDF documents that were posted online before June 28, 2025 are considered archived and are not accessible.
- External content and embedded third-party services (e.g. embedded maps).
Preparation of the accessibility declaration

Enforcement proceedings
If you do not receive a satisfactory response from the above contact option, you can submit a complaint to the Complaints Office of the Austrian Research Promotion Agency with Limited Liability (FFG). The FFG accepts complaints electronically via the complaints office contact form.
The complaints are examined by the FFG to determine whether they relate to violations of the provisions of the Web Accessibility Act, in particular deficiencies in compliance with accessibility requirements, by the federal government or an institution attributable to it.
If the complaint is justified, the FFG must make recommendations for action to the federal government or the legal entities concerned and propose measures to remedy the existing deficiencies.
