Bareboat Yachtcharter

You or a member of your Crew sail the yacht yourself and take on the role of skipper for the entire duration of the charter – that is Bareboat Yachtcharter!

Depending on the destination, certain certificates of competence are required to operate a yacht.

What is meant by Bareboat Yachtcharter?

Chartering a yacht without a skipper and Crew is known as a “Bareboat charter”.

Are you skippering yourself? If you and/or a member of your Crew have a sports license and sailing experience, you and the charter guests can sail the yacht yourself.
Depending on the destination, there are further requirements to be met.

The most common types of yacht for Bareboat chartering are sailboats and catamarans. You can achieve the classic sailing feeling with a monohull sailing boat, while catamarans offer more space and are very stable on the water.

Either way, with a Bareboat charter you are guaranteed an unforgettable adventure and experience as a team!

FAQ

Frequently asked questions about Bareboat Yachtcharter

A Bareboat charter or “Bareboat yacht charter” means that you rent a boat or yacht without Crew or a skipper and steer it yourself. You assume full responsibility for navigation, crew, fuel, insurance, maintenance and catering for the duration of the charter.

  • Bareboat Charter: You steer the boat yourself, without Crew – the full responsibility of a skipper lies with you.
  • Charter with skipper: You hire a boat with skipper; navigation and responsibility lie with the dedicated skipper.
  • Crewed charter: boat crew including skipper, hostess etc.; you enjoy the trip without any effort.

As a skipper, you must provide proof of sailing knowledge (sailing license, coastal permit, practice, … – depending on the sailing area).

We recommend that you take out skipper’s insurance and the Pitter deposit compensation.

The security deposit compensation is an optional Service from Pitter Yachtcharter (booking center of Nautic Alliance), which protects charter customers from financial risks in the event of damage to the yacht. Instead of paying a deposit, you pay a significantly lower lump sum (once before the start of the charter). In the event of damage, you are then – depending on the amount of the deposit – completely or largely exempt from additional costs.

This solution offers safety and convenience:

  • No freezing of high amounts on the credit card
  • Lower risk of minor damage or mishaps
  • Fast and uncomplicated processing in the event of damage
  • The exact conditions and compensation amounts depend on the yacht booked and the charter base. Pitter Yachtcharter offers this service directly in the booking process or on request.
