Innovative and efficient energy management thanks to BOS batteries
In the yachting sector, the entire Nautic Alliance stands for outstanding Service, well-maintained boats and first-class equipment. Pitter Yachtcharter, a member of the Nautic Alliance, has taken a significant step towards the future: many yachts in Croatia are now equipped with the innovative BOS LE300 lithium battery system . This groundbreaking technology combines efficiency and sustainability and ensures an improved user experience on board.
Why is the right battery technology so important?
Modern yachts are not just reliant on sailing or engine power. They offer the comforts of a floating home – from charging multiple devices such as smartphones and laptops to using electrical amenities such as air conditioning, refrigerators and dishwashers. These increasing energy demands mean that conventional batteries often reach their limits.
This is exactly where the BOS LE300 lithium extension comes in.
Directly connectable to the AGM batteries, it expands the capacity of the existing batteries and optimizes the overall system without the need for costly upgrades or replacing the entire battery bank.
In this video, Marko Zacherl, CEO of Yachten Meltl, talks to Ümit Uzun from Charterbar about the test on the Cataleya sailing yacht and the advantages of the BOS battery system.
Extending the battery life
Shorter loading times
Less self-discharge
Increased capacity, higher performance
Improved energy storage
Battery system or generator?
While generators are often noisy and costly to maintain, efficient battery systems offer decisive advantages.
Especially in combination with a PV system, you can rely on environmentally friendly energy management on board and still enjoy the convenience and comfort of air conditioning, dishwashers, etc.
At a glance: The advantages of a BOS battery system
Increased energy capacity without changing the system
By combining lead batteries and the BOS LE300 system, our boats benefit from additional storage capacity without having to change the existing charging system. This not only saves costs, but also installation time. For example, retrofitting with six LE300 cells doubles the total capacity from 150Ah to 300Ah.
Increased efficiency through intelligent battery management
The LE300 system primarily discharges the lithium batteries and thus protects the lead batteries. The result? An extended service life of up to 10 years for the lead batteries and a noticeable increase in energy efficiency.
Sustainability through longer service life
By loading the batteries evenly and prioritizing lithium batteries for frequent charging cycles, the service life of the entire system is significantly extended. This means fewer replacements and less waste – a major benefit for the environment and operating costs.
Quick and easy installation
The plug & play system from BOS enables uncomplicated installation in just a few minutes. Regardless of whether two, four or six LE300 cells are installed, the extension is flexible and scalable. This means that the capacity can be adapted to the individual requirements of each boat.
Maximum safety and reliability
The BOS LE300 system has all the necessary safety certifications, such as the E1 standard. In addition, the LiFePO4 high-performance lithium cells are recognized as one of the safest technologies on the market. Extensive tests have shown that these batteries can withstand even extreme conditions – whether in salt water or fire.
